The most important credential a teacher can have is a love of children.
Every child brings so much love and joy into each day.
I invest my heart, my time, my energy and my income into ensuring my early childhood environment is the very best that it can be.
Today like millions of other Americans I went to work. I didn't design a beautiful skyscraper or write a proposal to save an endangered species. I didn't fly a plane or write a crucial bill that would someday become a law. However, I did spend time with some very important people. I read a story to an attorney and I sang the alphabet song with a supreme court justice. I ate lunch with a pastor, and patted the back of an engineer until sleep set in. I taught a policeman how to tie shoes and introduced an astronaut to the color red. Tomorrow, who knows whom I'll meet, but one thing is for sure...They will be very important, because they are our precious children, and the hope of our very future.

My name is Cammy Herrera I am married and have 2 wonderful kids ages 7 and 4. I have been working with kids for over 12 years. I have taught children ages 0-5, Kindergarten, and 2nd grade. Working with children has always been a passion in my life. It is amazing to see the growth that a child has in just one year. They learn many new things, meet plenty of milestones, and they always find a way to put a smile on your face. The preschool to Kindergarten ages are my favorite to work with. They show so much enthusiasm in the learning process. Everyday they are eager to learn new songs, fingerplays, do art project, and just have fun running around. It is truly a blessing to work with them everyday.
A lot of people ask why I decided to open Rising Stars Preschool. The answer is: When my daugther was just an infant she was injured in a daycare, it scared me very bad and I started to stay home with her, eventually she needed to get into a program to learn to socialize with other children, seperation, and how to learn from someone other than me. I put her into a great program and even started to work there part time so I could keep a behind the scenes eye on her. The cost of this program was so extremely high that even though I was getting a discount I could barely afford to send her there. When I got pregnant with my son I stopped working there part time, but decided that it was in the best interest of my daughter for her to stay. Right before she went to Kindergarten I started researching other programs in the area, including some church run Mother's Day Out. I didn't like the play all day atmosphere, but I also didn't like the very strict classroom setting that some programs offered. After much thought and complaining to my husband we decided that it would be the best of both worlds to run a program that my children could attend without leaving the house. I took all the things that I liked about area programs and incorporated them into our program and also included some of my own. I feel like every child deserves a quality early childhood education program, and I also feel that every parent should be able to afford it, not only the ones that make 6 figures. In the past we have only run part time during the MISD school year, this will be our first year to offer full time childcare. We are continuing to operate during the ISD calendar.
